A Swiss court granted Roman Polanski's request for bail. (He's still in jail while the government decides whether to appeal.)

Oookay, help me with this. Given that he's facing the prospect of spending the rest of his life in jail--given that, evidently, his friends and colleagues wouldn't exactly hold it against him if he missed a court date--given that he actually lives in another country--wouldn't he be something of a flight risk? $4.5 million bail notwithstanding?

  • 01:17 @rhiannonstone: Well, the "Twilight" prose sure isn't to my tastes! But to each his own--I got pretty dang tired of Rowling's writing, too. #

  • 13:56 @activenetwork: Thanks! I'd rather have it handled by email, so I'll give support a couple of days to get back to me--I'll phone if nec. #

  • 16:24 Heard back from @activenetwork support! The answer was "Uh, yeah, you can't do that." I paraphrase... only very slightly. #
  • 21:45 @juverna: Not to rehash old arguments, but the VP candidate I voted for would've ripped the turkey's throat out with her teeth. Just sayin'. #
  • 21:46 @juverna: Any word on whether he's sending the turkey to @farmsanctuary? Well, I guess they'd have tweeted it if he were... #

  • 12:37 @veronica_ma: I'll probably do the Seattle full, unless something intervenes! And yes, let's finally meet face-to-face! #

So last night I watched last Friday's episode of Stargate: Universe on Hulu, in which Colonel Dickweed, temporarily in control of the body of Colonel Stoic, seizes command of the Destiny.

And it got me wondering:

Who'll be the next actor from Stand and Deliver to play a hard-assed sci fi military not-exactly-Latino?

I'm guessing Vanessa Marquez.
